Dr. Gertrude A. Barber's work began with a handful of students in a single borrowed classroom in 1952. Today, the nationally-recognized facility that bears her name serves more than 3,600 children and adults throughout the state of Pennsylvania in the cities of Erie, Girard, Corry, Warren, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. With a national reputation, the Barber National Institute serves as a teaching resource for professionals around the country.
